Refund & Cancellation Policy

Cancel whenever you like, from your account, in about ten seconds. This page says precisely what that does to your access and your money — including the parts that are not in your favour.

Effective 31 July 2026 · TechWalk — LEGAL ENTITY NAME TBC

1. The short version

  • Cancel any time from Account → Billing → Manage subscription. No email, no phone call, no retention script.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. It is not pro-rated, and we do not refund the unused part of that period. You keep full access until it ends.
  • New subscriber? If you ask within 14 days of your first payment, we refund it in full.
  • If TechWalk was broken or not as described, tell us — that is a refund, not a favour.

2. How to cancel

Sign in and go to Account → Billing → Manage subscription. That opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can cancel, update your card, and download every invoice. Cancelling there is immediate and final — you do not need our agreement.

The portal cannot switch you between monthly and yearly. If that is what you want, email support@techwalk.io and we will arrange it. If you cannot get into your account, email us from the address on the account and we will cancel it for you.

3. What cancelling does

What happensWhen
Your subscription stops renewing — no further charge is ever takenImmediately when you cancel
You keep full access to every course, quiz and Quiz Master sessionUntil the end of the period you already paid for
Access ends and your subscription becomes inactiveAt the end of that period
Your account, progress and mastery data stay as they areUntil you ask us to delete them

Cancelling on day 2 of a monthly period and cancelling on day 29 cost you exactly the same: the month you already bought. We do not charge a cancellation fee and we do not shorten your access when you cancel — but we do not give the remainder back either. If you want to use the full period, keep listening; access is yours until the date shown in the billing portal.

The same applies to a yearly plan: cancelling in month three keeps your access for the remaining nine months of the year you paid for, and does not refund them.

Cancelling does not delete your account or your data. To have those erased, see the deletion process in the Privacy Policy.

4. Refund on a first payment: 14 days, no questions

If you have just subscribed and TechWalk is not for you, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full, however much you listened to. Then cancel — or ask us to and we will do both together.

Why we offer this when the Terms of Service contain an immediate-supply clause that would let us decline: that clause sits inside the terms rather than being a separate confirmation you ticked at checkout, so we treat you as keeping your EU 14-day right of withdrawal and honour it. We would rather be straightforwardly generous here than argue about a checkbox.

This applies to the first payment on a subscription, once. It is not a rolling right to reclaim each month, and it does not apply to a renewal.

5. Renewals you did not mean to pay

Renewals are automatic, so the way to avoid one is to cancel before the renewal date. The billing portal always shows that date, and cancelling any time before it means the charge never happens.

If a renewal caught you out, email us anyway. If you were charged for a new period you have not used, we will refund it and cancel the subscription. This is a discretionary goodwill position rather than a right you can insist on — we would rather refund an unused month than keep money from someone who is not getting anything for it. Where a period has been used, the answer is normally no.

6. When the service is at fault

If the service is substantially unavailable, broken, or materially not what we described, you are entitled to a remedy — repair, replacement, or a refund of what you paid for the affected period. Email us with what happened and when. This is a statutory right and nothing on this page limits it.

A course you found less useful than you hoped, or an exam you did not pass, is not a fault — see the accuracy and no-pass-guarantee sections of the Terms of Service. Tell us anyway; it is how the content gets better, and if a question or a chapter is genuinely wrong we want to know.

7. Asking for a refund, and what happens next

Email support@techwalk.io from the address on your account, and tell us which charge you mean (the date and amount are plenty — every invoice is in the billing portal) and what happened.

  • We reply within one working day, and decide within five.
  • Approved refunds go back to the card that paid, through Stripe. Stripe typically returns the money in 5–10 working days depending on your bank.
  • We refund in the currency you were charged. We cannot control exchange-rate movement between the charge and the refund, or a fee your own bank may apply.
  • If we decline, we will say why in plain terms, and tell you how to escalate.

8. Refunds and your access

A refund is the reversal of a purchase, so it takes the purchase with it: when we refund a payment in full, the subscription is cancelled and your access ends straight away — not at the end of the period. That is automatic in our billing system, so plan for it if you are asking for a refund mid-period.

A partial refund — a goodwill credit, say — leaves your subscription and your access exactly as they were.

9. Card disputes and chargebacks

Please email us before raising a dispute with your bank. Nearly every dispute we see is something we would simply have refunded.

If a chargeback is raised, our billing system cancels the subscription and revokes access while the card network investigates, and we will respond to the claim with the record of your subscription, your acceptance of these documents and your usage. Access is not automatically restored when a dispute closes — email us and we will sort it out.

10. Team and invoiced seats

Team access is invoiced and arranged directly with us rather than bought through the checkout, so cancellations, seat changes and refunds are handled by agreement and by the terms on the invoice. Email support@techwalk.io and we will work it out with you.

11. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy affects the rights you have under consumer law in the country you live in, including the right to a service supplied with reasonable care and skill and to a remedy where it is not. Where this policy and your statutory rights disagree, your statutory rights win.

This policy is governed by the law of Ireland, in line with the Terms of Service. If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, you can refer it to the consumer protection or alternative dispute resolution body in the country you live in.
